So, what is washi tape?
The word “washi” means handmade Japanese paper. The creation
of the washi tape you see today was inspired by a small group of women that
visited Kamoi Kakoshi, a Japanese company that produces various adhesive
masking tapes. The women requested Kamoi to create more masking tape colors
after they presented artwork created by several artists using masking tape they had designed with prints and patterns.
Thus, washi tape was born.
How do I use washi tape?
The great thing about washi tape is its versatility. It’s a multi-purpose
translucent adhesive that comes in a variety of sizes, colors, and patterns
that’s easy to write on and tear by hand.
Yes, washi tape has taken over the world of scrapbooking, but the fun doesn’t stop
there. Use it to create wall art, decorate candle votives and jars, greeting cards, frames, ornaments, and so much more.
The possibilities are endless.
