Shabby Chic Snowman

This shabby chic snowman was actually going to be one of the projects for our Home for the Holidays event this past Saturday, but the drying time was not ideal to enable everyone to have adequate time to make this in store. 

So, we are bringing the project to you in the comfort of your home with all the time you need to make this vintage inspired decoration.

Supplies

• Styrofoam Ball
• Unfinished Wood Candlestick
• Patterned Scrapbooking Paper
• Metallic Pipe Cleaners
• Stampendous Frantage Shaved Ice
• Small Wooden Carrot Nose
• Mod Podge
• Acrylic Paint
• Adhesive
• Sharpie Marker
• Scissors
• Paintbrush

All supplies for this project can be found at our Bonney Lake store.

1. Paint the Styrofoam ball in an ivory color and set aside to let dry.
2. Paint the wood candlestick in an ivory color and set aside to let dry.
3. Take two strips of 2.5" W x 12" L patterned scrapbooking paper and fold it, accordion style.
4. Glue those two strips together, creating a circle and glue it on top of the candlestick.
5. Use a Sharpie marker to draw the eyes and mouth on the snowman's face.
6. Glue the small carrot nose onto the face. If you cannot find a premade carrot nose, you can use a small wooden cone or make one from paper.
7. Set aside to let the face completely dry.
8. Once dry, apply a thin coat of Mod Podge onto the Styrofoam ball and sprinkle shaved ice on top of the wet Mod Podge until it is completely covered. You can also choose to use iridescent glitter instead of the shaved ice.
9. Glue the snowman's head on top of the paper circle that is glued on top of the candlestick.
10. Wrap pipe cleaners around the bottom of the snowman's head to make a "bowtie."
11. Make a "halo" with a pipe cleaner and glue it on top of the snowman's head.
12. Using a paintbrush, lightly apply Mod Podge to the edges of the paper and sprinkle it with shaved ice (or glitter).
13. Let the snowman dry completely before displaying.
