D.I.Y. Fabric Strips Garland

Supplies

• Fabric
• Jute
• Mini Wooden Spools
• Embroidery Floss
• Pinking Shears
• Adhesive

1.  Measure and cut the jute to the desired length.
2.  Measure and cut fabric into strips, using pinking shears, to the desired length.
3.  Set those aside.
4.  Place a small amount of adhesive onto the spool and wrap embroidery floss around it until it is completely covered.
5.  Cut the embroidery floss and glue the end to the spool.
6.  Continue steps 4 and 5 until you have the desired amount of spools.
7.  String the wooden spools onto the jute and move them around to create a desired pattern.

8.  Tie the fabric strips into a pattern onto the jute in a single or double knot.

9.  Be sure to leave extra length at the ends for hanging onto a hook or tying it to an object, such as a banister.

The cool thing about this project is that it can be applied for a variety of holidays, simply by using different fabric colors and embellishments that coordinate with the theme.

For instance, you could use fabric with orange and black for Halloween, adding spiders, pumpkins or other items to decorate the garland. 

You can also use tulle in place of fabric or intermix it with ribbons, lace, burlap and more!
