How-to: Make a Mason Jar Snow Globe

Make a whimsical snow globe using a mason jar!

Supplies

• Mason Jar
• Candlestick
• Adirondack Alcohol Ink
• Inkssentials Foam Applicator
• Miniature Figurines
• Glycerin
• Clear or Iridescent Glitter
• Decorative Metal Trim
• E-6000
• Tin Snips or Utility Scissors

1.  Using E-6000, glue the seal and lid together.
2.  Glue your figurines to the inside of the lid.
3.  Set aside and let dry.
4.  Once dry, fill the mason jar with water.
5.  Add a tablespoon of glycerin.

For this project, Pershette used a half pint mason jar. For larger jars, you will need to double the amount of glycerin.

The purpose of the glycerin is to reduce the speed of the falling glitter, which allows it to float around in the water as it settles.

6.  Add a tablespoon of clear or iridescent glitter.

You can use any glitter of your choice, ultra fine or chunky.

7.  Apply the glue to the inside edges of the lid and secure the lid onto the mason jar.
8.  Set the jar right side up until the lid is completely dry to turn it over.
9.  Glue the mason jar, lid side down, to the top of the candlestick.
10.  Set aside to let dry.
11.  Apply Adirondack Alcohol Ink in the color(s) of your choice to the foam applicator.
12.  Use a tapping action to cover the lid and the candlestick.
13.  Set aside to let dry when done.

Adding the metal trim is optional, but if you want to add it, simply paint it with acrylic paints and let it dry. Then, cut it to fit around the jar and adhere with E-6000.
