DIY Mermaid Wall Art

The mermaid trend is very popular this summer and we are having fun creating projects to share with you. This one is very simple, but looks great.

Supplies:
One Pallet Board Sign
Acrylic Paint - White, Blues and Purples
Roll of Thick Jute
Brown Kraft Paper
Glue Gun

Directions:
Water down white acrylic paint and paint a wash over the entire board.
While the board dries, cut out a tail shape from the brown paper to use as a stencil. (You can also draw the shape freehand.)
Draw the tail on the board.
Paint in the tail by starting with one color, then blend in others to give it depth.
Add a couple of white paint lines to give the tail a highlight.
Allow to dry.
Outline the tail with your glue gun, pressing the jute into the glue as you go.
Cut small pieces of jute and glue on the board in half circle to form the scales.
When the project is completely dry your wall art is ready to hang.
