Recipe: Cake Pop

Here is a basic cake pop recipe that is easy to make and the perfect treat to serve at parties!

Made by Joy.

Ingredients

  • 1 box cake mix
  • 16 oz. ready made frosting
  • 32 oz. candy melts

Supplies

  • Lollipop sticks
  • Styrofoam block
  • Wax paper

Bake the cake as directed on the box. Let it cool completely when done. Crumble the cake into a large bowl. Add 3/4 of the container of frosting and mix it into the crumbled cake. The mixture should be moist enough to roll into a ball and hold its shape.

Roll the mixture into 1.5" balls and place them onto a wax papered baking sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for several hours in the refrigerator, or chill in the freezer for 15 minutes. Balls should be firm, not frozen.

Melt the candy melts in a bowl (following the instructions provided on the candy melt package). Dip 1/2" of the tip of the lollipop stick in the bowl, then insert it into the cake ball. Dip the cake ball into the melted chocolate and tap off any excess. Immediately add sprinkles or crushed candies (optional). Lay the cake pops upside down (stick side up) onto wax papers baking sheets or insert them into a Styrofoam block to stand up to let dry.

You can enjoy them now or store them in a cool place until they are ready to serve!

Creative tip! Use washi tape to dress up your cake pop to add a colorful touch!
