Hoffman Bali Batiks are truly "magic fabrics," designed and made specifically for quilters and home sewists around the world. Each yard is made by hand at the Hoffman Bali Factory on the island paradise of Bali. The motifs (artwork) of the batiks and colorways created for the hand-dyes (mottled blender fabrics) originate with textile artists employed at the Hoffman California Fabrics' headquarters in Mission Viejo, California. The artwork and colorstory boards are sent to the Bali factory, where master craftspeople produce the fabrics using age-old methods of dyeing and wax-stamping with a metal stamp (also known as a "chop"). Hoffman California Fabrics creates hundreds of new designs of batiks and hand-dyes each year, producing thousands of yards of fabrics annually for use in keepsake quilting and sophisticated home-sewing and apparel projects. Hoffman Fabrics has shared this wonderful 3 minute video to give you an idea of the personal work that goes into creating the batik fabrics. This hand made fabric is truly a work of art.
