The German Pickle Ornament Story

The German glass pickle ornaments were considered a special Christmas decoration in Germany by many families where the Christmas tree was decorated on Christmas Eve.
The glass pickle ornament was always the last glass ornament to be hung on the Christmas tree.  The parents hid the glass pickle in the Christmas tree among the other German glass ornaments.  When the children were allowed to view the tree they would begin gleefully searching for the glass pickle. Whoever found the  glass pickle first would receive an extra little gift and would be the first to unwrap a gift.

This has become a Christmas tradition for many families with German roots.  We have a beautiful glass pickle decoration at our Bonney Lake store.
