D.I.Y. Monogram Canvas Art

A monogram canvas is a great way to add personalized art to your child's room.

Crafted by Pershette.

Supplies

  • Canvas
  • Printed Scrapbooking Paper
  • Fillet or Frame
  • Wooden Letter
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Plaid Gallery Glass
  • Mod Podge
  • Foam Brush
  • Scissors

All supplies for this project can be found at our Bonney Lake store.

Before we being, we will explain what a fillet is. A fillet is a tiny frame added to a custom mat to match a custom frame. You can ask our Frame Shop about fillets for this project.

If you do not have access to a fillet, then you can use a frame of your choice by removing the glass and back.

1.  Using the foam brush, apply paint to the sides of the canvas.
2.  Set aside and let dry.
3.  Once dry, apply Mod Podge to the front edge of the canvas.
4.  Lay the strips of paper around the edges of the canvas in a design or color you desire.
5.  Apply Mod Podge to the center middle of the canvas to adhere a 12" x 12" sheet of paper in a design or color you desire.
6.  Trim the paper that will be framed by the frame (as shown in the photo above) and glue it in the middle center of the 12" x 12" paper.
7.  Paint the frame in a color you desire. If you like the frame the way it is, move onto the next step.
8.  Glue the frame on top of the paper to create a look as if you're framing the paper (like in the photo above).
9.  Paint the letter in a color you desire. If you like the way the letter is, move onto the next step.
10.  Glue the letter inside the middle center of the frame.

11.  This step is optional. Use the Gallery Glass to trace the inner edge of the papered border.

The Gallery Glass pulls the look together by creating a frame-like border.

You can add additional embellishments to really create a one-of-a-kind canvas art to best reflect the personality of your child.

  1. I think you labeled your fillet example incorrectly.
