Today, I'm Thankful for...

What are you thankful for?

Crafted by Billie Jo.

  • Unfinished Wooden Slat Board
  • Krylon Chalkboard Paint
  • Vinyl Lettering "Today I'm Thankful For..."
  • Chalk

We received these unfinished slat boards that are perfect for a variety of projects. You can purchase them here in our online store.

There are two ways you can paint this with chalkboard paint: you can either use Krylon's Chalkboard paint to spray it on (which is faster) or use a foam brush to apply Americana Chalkboard Paint by DecoArt.

After you apply the chalkboard paint, let it dry for 24 hours.

Now, the important part...you must cure your chalkboard surface before using it. Take white chalk and rub it over the entire chalkboard surface first horizontally, then vertically. Then, take a soft dry cloth to wipe it down.

Apply the vinyl lettering. If you do not have access to the vinyl lettering shown in this tutorial, you can use chalk to write out the saying and numbers; or if you have a Cricut or Silhouette, you can custom create your own vinyl to apply.

Feel free to add embellishments.

Once done, it's ready to display!
