Brewing Magical Potions

Stir up a mystical brew using this creepy collection of ingredients, which would be perfect to display next to a cauldron or a punch bowl to create the feel of brewing magical potions.

Crafted by Therese.

Supplies

  • Test Tube/Vial Set
  • Skull Beads
  • Toy Lizards, Frogs, Insects
  • Googly Eyes
  • Spider Webbing
  • Halloween Themed Patterned Scrapbooking Paper
  • Halloween Stickers
  • Corks
  • Adirondack Alcohol Ink
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Adhesive
  • Scissors
  • Paintbrush

All supplies for this project can be found at our Bonney Lake store.

  1. You can choose to paint the wooden tube holder with acrylic paint or use a foam applicator to sponge on alcohol ink.
  2. Set it aside to let dry.
  3. Rub a little alcohol ink to the outside of the tubes to give it a grungy look.
  4. Fill each tube with a different item, whether it be lizard or insect parts (cutting them with scissors), googly eyes, spider webbing, slime, etc.
  5. Place a cork onto the tubes to seal the "ingredients" inside.
  6. Adhere stickers onto various areas of the tubes or cut out images from scrapbooking paper to glue onto the tubes.
  7. Place the tubes back into the wooden holder and decorate it with spider webbing along with other embellishments (stickers, paper, glitter, etc.).
  8. Let your project dry completely before displaying.

You can definitely let your imagination run wild with this project or enlist a little helper to give you ideas on what to fill the tubes with. There are so many variations in making this and it makes a fun family project!
