To Fill a Fillet

Look at this frame.

There isn't anything special about it.

But, when you open the frame and flip over the fillet, you can turn this ordinary frame into something extraordinary.

By turning over the fillet, it creates a deep well around
the opening, allowing you to decorate it or fill it with items.

What is a fillet?

A fillet, pronounced "fill-it," is a small piece of molding that fits inside a larger frame, usually underneath or in between matting.

Here are a few ideas on how to utilize a frame like this.

Dog biscuits were used to customize the frame to focus on the family pet.

Coffee beans were glued to the mat to accentuate the vinyl words.

Yarn and feathers were used to add a playful feel of the kitten.

There are several items you can use to fill the space in between the fillet and the frame, such as:

  • Candy
  • Crayons
  • Fabric
  • Flowers
  • Fillers
  • Confetti
  • Tissue Paper
  • Toy Cards
  • Scrabble Tiles
  • Dominoes
  • Bottle Caps
  • Rhinestones
  • Beads
  • Garland
  • Bells

And so much more!
