How to Make a Marble Hot Pad

A hot pad is used for placing a hot dish onto, preventing damage to a surfaces like a counter or table. Most hot pads are made of knit or fabric, but we are going to show you how to create one using glass marbles.

Crafted by Kellie.

Supplies

  • Flat Glass Marbles (Gems)
  • 1 Sheet of Felties (Stiff Felt)
  • E-6000 Adhesive
  • Scissors

All supplies used for this project can be found at our Bonney Lake store.

The number of marbles (bags) depends on the size and shape of your hot pad.

1.  You can either use scissors to cut the felt to the desired shape or use a die cut. Remember, if you purchase the felt from our store, you have free use of our Die Cut Center.
2.  Arrange marbles onto the felt in the desired pattern.
3.  Starting from the outside border to work your way inwards, glue each marble onto the felt.

E-6000 is a very strong adhesive, so be sure you are in a well-ventilated area before gluing. You can also choose to use 527 Multi-Purpose Glue or another strong bonding adhesive for this project.

4.  Let dry overnight.
