How-to: Custom Color Light Strands

Having difficulty finding light strands with colors to complement decorations for a celebration, such as New Year's Eve?

Use Adirondack Alcohol Ink to quickly and easily customize lights with colors to coordinate with your party, wedding, graduation and more!

Crafted by Joy.

Supplies

  • Light Strands
  • Adirondack Alcohol Ink
  • Tim Holtz Foam Applicator
  • Inkssentials Non-Stick Craft Mat

Be sure the lights are unplugged and not connected to power before you begin.

1.  Apply a small amount of alcohol ink to the foam applicator.
2.  Use a tapping action to cover the bulb in the ink.

The alcohol evaporates as the ink dries. You will quickly notice that the ink gives great color and coverage, so inking the bulb once should be enough.

3.  Set aside and let dry when done.

If you color the wrong bulb or would like to change the color, you can dab a small amount of Adirondack Alcohol Blending Solution to a paper towel and gently wipe the ink from the bulb.

Watch Joy demonstrate how easy it is to customize lights to coordinate with the theme and decor of any occasion and event!
