Recipe: Old Fashion Fudge

This recipe comes from Adrian Taylor's mom, Deanna.

Made by Adrian.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup nuts

Combine sugar, milk, cocoa powder, light corn syrup and salt in a heavy saucepan, preferably a cast iron pan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Cook until a little dropped into cold water forms a soft ball. Stir occasionally.

Remove from heat and add 2 tbsp. butter. Cool to lukewarm without stirring and then add 1 tsp. vanilla. Beat until thick and no longer glossy. Quickly stir in 1/2 cup nuts or more. Pour into buttered 8 inch square pan. Cut into bars when cooled.

Gift idea! Use cookie cutters to cut fudge and wrap in a cello bag to give as a gift.
