D.I.Y. Crackled Candle Holder

Let's make a candle holder to display that beautiful candle that we made yesterday from our "Transferring an Image to a Candle" project.

Crafted by Melody.

Supplies

  • Unfinished Wooden Candle Holder
  • 2 Unfinished Wooden Discs or Coasters
  • Delta Crackle Medium
  • Metal Trim
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Adhesive
  • Paintbrush

All supplies for this project can be found at our Bonney Lake store.

  1. Using an adhesive, glue a wooden disc or coaster to both the top and bottom of the candlestick holder.
  2. Set aside to let dry.
  3. Once dry, use the paintbrush to apply a dark colored paint in any color to the entire candlestick holder.
  4. Set aside to let dry.
  5. Once dry, apply a thick coat of Crackle Medium to the candle holder.
  6. Following the instructions on the Crackle Medium bottle, let the medium get to a tacky state, then apply light colored paint.
  7. Set aside to let dry and you will see the paint crackle within minutes.
  8. Take the metal trim and bend it all the way around to form a circular shape. This will make it easy for the trim to conform to the round top of the candlestick holder.
  9. Apply adhesive to the trim and adhere it to the top base of the candlestick holder.
  10. Wrap a thick rubber band around the trim to keep it in place as it dries.
  11. Set aside to let dry.
  12. Once dry, remove the rubber band and feel free to add embellishments or trinkets of your choice to the trim.
