Beach Candlescape

Don't live near the water but love the ocean?

Ann, our Home and Floral Designer, created a beach candlescape with sand and seashells. She wrapped a burlap ribbon, almost reminiscent of the material they use in those large beach hats, around the candles and secured them with decorative pins.

This decorative pin is a prettier version of a regular thumbtack. You can use regular thumbtacks and glue a rhinestone to the top of each one or use ones that are ready-made like the one in the photo.

Make Your Own Unity Sand Set

A unity sand ceremony is a symbolic element to represent the joining of two lives by layering sand from two vases, that represent the bride and groom, into one vase.

It is easy to create your own unity sand set. You can select any size, shape and color of vase or bottle. What you will need is:

  • Sand Pouring Vases - you will need a vase for the bride and a vase for the groom, each containing sand of a different color.
  • Central Vase - where sand from both the bride and groom will be poured in together.
  • Sand - use two different colors of sand (to represent the unity of bride and groom) to create the layered effect into the central vase. If you can't find a particular color, custom color sand by dying it with alcohol ink. Learn how here.

You can personalize both the sand pouring vases and central vase by adding the names of the bride and groom, wedding date, or a quote by using vinyl lettering, beads, etching cream, paint pens, and other embellishments.
